OSHA, the "Occupational Safety health Administration" established by United States Department of Labors has one main purpose i.e. to prevent health issues and physical loss of workers. Comprising about 2,200 inspectors accountable for the health and safety of 130 million workers in employment and more than 8 million work sites across the country, the total number of safety and health inspectors are one for 59,000 workers. Approximately, 13 American workers are killed doing their job each day. About 4 million people are badly injured on the job site and tens of thousands die each year. Falls are the biggest cause of death in the construction industry and manual works. About 291 out of 828 serious falls occurred in 2013, highest till now. It is regretted to say that those deaths were preventable if three simple steps could have taken place that are, plan to get the work done safely, providing the accurate material and objects for doing the job and training the staff to use the equipment properly and safely.

According to OSHA, employers have a huge obligation to provide secure and hazard free workplace to the workers to minimize the hazards that could occur during work hours. If certain measures for safety are not taken by the employer, they must pay the fine for it under the Act of occupational Safety & Health (OSH), the fine charges would then be deposited to the U.S. Treasury.
